Not that I’m sure I’d be top VV employee of the year — although I’m pretty sure I was doing a good job.
Well, it was inevitable. With the US financial crisis going on — the big boss decided to halt production (like a factory!) for the operations here. It didn’t seem too long ago that I was leaving a job — oh wait…
Rather than blame whatever crisis, an issue at work or the employer — I see being jobless as enlightenment. As I used to say, “if you really want something, you have to be ready to lose it.” When you have nothing, you can’t lose anything! Now that I don’t have a job, anything’s possible — like a heavy weight that has been pressing on top of my head that says “go do work, don’t pro-crastinate!” lifts itself and waits by the corner. (My Uncle says I could try being a cop — instant 2nd Lieutenant! Or I could be one of those back-up dancers in noontime variety shows that carry Alma Moreno in a dance number.)
I’d like to thank the phenomenal colleagues — Ven, Joy, Reg, Cielo and all the other guys I didn’t get to meet. Thanks for putting in the same amount of work, and non-work day-in and day-out. Thanks for injecting your personalities into the otherwise-faceless Skype meetings we used to have. It’s been real. Let’s all keep in touch, eh?
Now I find myself polishing the resumé — and most probably doing some freelance work to buy cigarettes and Coke with. Let’s see who’ll hire me.
Thanks!
