That Playboy Party Thing

Say “Playboy” — it’d conjure up images of a bunny, a mansion, a Heff and rainy afternoons spent raiding your classmate’s dad’s magazine collection.  The type of stuff that’d make your mum nervous when you mention — and that’s exactly where I was last Friday.  A Playboy PH party … for bloggers!

As mentioned in an earlier post: I had a long day.  So why didn’t going to this thing seem like a chore?  For one, I have been away from blogger events for too long, and for another, it was Playboy and, well, there was promise of classy, smart partying/mingling — who’d pass that up?  :)

Reeking of a day’s worth of cigarettes, and telling every(?) new person that I met that night that I hadn’t taken a bath, I tried to follow the classy/smart partying/mingling that I was expecting.  (Clue: no I didn’t.)

It was awesome — bloggers ARE social creatures by nature, and having to introduce yourself required nothing more than a smile, a “hello,” or a “muka ba akong ‘di naligo?” and you’re in.  I have met several new and old-meeting-for-the-first-time bloggers who were more than willing to trade stories, bump drinks and have a smoke with.  I am looking at your direction, Manuel Viloria, Dante, MommyBa, Athan, Jonel, Sarah, Yogajane (for a brief moment of questioning what exactly a ‘hrudu’ is :p), Monch (who borrowed some lighter fluid a couple times), Ryan (of whom I got to talk to for the first time, over cigarettes outside, where the bunnies reside), Jeff, Mark (not Cerbo, but Mark who grew up in the 80′s and talked-to about Roxy Music, Ferris Bueller and Say Anything), Sire, Earth, Trixie(?), Cai — and quite a few ones of whom were just passing by, said “hi” to and asked if I plurked — of which they asked and I told, but didn’t remember to ask back.

While at the same time, seeing familiar faces, as you would in this circle, among the crowd, Azrael (of course), Iggs, Jori, Cathie, Arvin, Marcelle (who did that really cool ring trick), RG, Mark Cerbo, Ohmski (of whom, people mistakenly thought I intentionally tried to set on fire — please don’t), Kring (of whom, I paid back the apir I said I owed) and Poyt was also a blast.

I got several shots, (of the Jager that I was avoiding too-much of) but didn’t get any of the pika-pika.

When the program started with future-centerfold Azrael hosting, everyone’s attention was turned to the Playmates — and the unveiling of April 2009′s cover.  Several contests with great prizes were done and won, several thousand cameras going “click” and shots were done ’til midnight.

Everyone was in high spirits leaving, with new friends made to be followed on several social networks online later — and all because of Playboy!

Thanks and congratulations to Azrael for pulling this one off!  Also, thank you to Playboy PH and Source bar for making this happen.
