Since July: I have been wanting ice-cold dark Czech beer to hit my dry smoker’s lips.  This week: they’re doing a dry run — when I heard that, I made the trip, went the distance — only to find that the dark weizen wasn’t there.

Grappa’s is now run by a new owner — they’re no longer just a franchise here, the new owners are partners with the original, a full-blown branch.

I managed to meet/amuse the new owner because my camera and phone has tons of photos from Grappa’s pre-July 2010.  Got introduced to Chef Benjamin Leib — a fellow beer-lover — who tells me that in the coming months, they’ll be introducing newer, tastier, foreign beers, hopefully, to fill the gap.

However, if you’re looking for some great Italian food — try to drop by.  Chef Benjamin told me they’re still in the dry run phase and that prices are to be adjusted still.

What a fine drunk I am turning out to be.

In the last nights of December 2009, I had a dream — it was vivid — it said “MORE.”  Which is why at the beginning of last year, I created a mindset called “more 2010.”

“More” – a simple enough word — looking back, in the last year, I have had significantly more of the good stuff — possessions, experiences and good feelings all through the year.  It’s really easier to see proof of a mindset once the goal has been reached — 2010 had more of EVERYTHING compared to the years prior to it.

Yesterday I was inspired to have “ridonculous 2011 – when ridiculous knows no bounds,” but if the last week’s been about anything, it’s finding out that ridonculous isn’t what I’m looking for: this week alone involved ridonculous phones, ridonculous miscommunication and even ridonculous gun girl. (which I like)

“Better 2011″  That’s it.  This is how my year’s going to be — if 2010 had more (and was better than the previous years for it), then having an even better 2011 seems like a fun thing to be looking back on, next year.

The story of a homeless man Ted Williams with the golden voice is so ridiculously compelling and has inspired me today.  Here’s the video:

Since it’s New Year week — my thing for 2011 will be: ridonculous 2011: when ridiculous knows no bounds.

A new (at the time) year done up in an older style.  (But actually, I did it last year: 2009 Poladroid Remix.)

What was 2010 all about?  It was about “more.”  A new job that I love, new stuff (that I didn’t have the year prior), dirty flirties, anything-goes bedtimes and just about everything else that #more2010 has covered but can’t remember at the moment.  Here’s to looking back (reminiscing, a full 4 days just after the last year ended) one last time at the perfectest year (so far).

Only posting this because it’s November — and it’s really one of those perfect days — sunny and November-breezy and you just want to sit back and drink some beer.  And also, I miss my party peoples.

It’s Friday.  That other Friday was 2 weeks ago, so I can say fortnight.  Fortnight.  Fortnight.  I am taking a little break from my job staring at a screen for x number of hours a day to maybe do something else, which is this, stare at a blank screen and try to put something in here.  Elvis Costello dazzles the audience with some banter before he sings “Tokyo Storm Warning” from a recorded performance in a video from the YouTubes which they probably haven’t caught yet, meaning it’s still up there before the property police silence it.  Or take it away.

So anyway, fortnight.  The last 13 days, plus this one, making the fortnight, has been fantastic.  Compared to the rest of the year, it makes September looks like a sissy.  The future rocks!

Things in the last fortnight: I have met someone (which is sad if you only get to report you meet some “one” over a period of two weeks, in which case you are probably like me, who needs to get out of the house more often), I ate several pizzas and burgers and drank a large amount of Coke and smoked a coupla packs of cigarettes, has found out that Jaimee will be visiting next year, finally told someone (after more than 3 years) that I think she’s smarter than me (yes that was in the last fortnight), watched High Fidelity and The Hangover and several other movies again, changed the sheets (twice, because it’s a weekly thing, but still), bit a bottle during the last time I drank, became a resume (I say “resume,” you say “resumé”) conduit, the sitcom life, got my DROSSEL (Acer notebook) back, new internets at home and will most likely own 2 or more things for FREE in the coming days.

I’m guessing what I need to work on is finding out what made the last fortnight (fortnight) work, then try applying that to my every-week.

Oh, and it’s a Friday.  And a payday!  Cheers!  High five!  Fist bump!  Bro-fist!  Whatever the traditional greeting your tribe has!
