I got my webcam from the contest yesterday! The secret appeal of the webcam for me is the way it looks. It kind of reminds me of an old friend.

Okay, when I first saw the webcam, the turret from Portal instantly popped into my head — look at the legs! One of these days, I’m going to enter my room and it’ll turn to leer at me with its camera-lens-eyes … “I seeeeee you…” and starts shooting. Of course I’d throw something at it to make it fall on its side, and it’ll tell me in that computer voice, “I don’t blame you.”

The included software, Creative Live! Cam Center has a “Motion Detection” feature. In this mode, when the webcam detects movement, the software instantly records the scene either until the movement has ceased, or until x number of seconds. (You input that yourself.)
There’s also an optional alert sound — which, I’ve replaced with the Metal Gear Solid “exclamation-point” sound.
Since there’s no option to change it, here’s how to change the alert:
1. Go to the folder where you installed the Live! Cam Center software.
It’s usually here: ( C:\Program Files\Creative\Creative Live! Cam\Live! Cam Center )
2. Get this file. (Right-click and select Save As…)
3. Rename the original Alert.wav into something else, or keep it in a different folder for back-up.
4. Paste the file Alert.wav into your Live! Cam Center folder.
Thanks again to sir Yuga!
