Google’s first Chrome notebook, the Cr-48 — I want it. I’ve been following news about this device out of sheer curiosity — they’ve done it! Everything lives in the cloud. As I’ve mentioned previously, I more or less do my work/personal computing in the cloud — the value of which, I’ve learned when I started operating on more than one machine. Everything should be portable nowadays, with phones getting smarter and internet connections (even here in my country) progressively getting better.
So what is this beautiful matte black thing?
It’s the answer to questions no one asked: what if your browser was your operating system? What if hardware specs, program compatibility and OS exclusivity didn’t matter?
The first few people who have the Cr-48 are people who signed up for the Pilot program. (Which, for now, is exclusive to people based in the US — which means I’m not eligible … yet.)

So maybe I want one so I could say that I own one, and maybe if I did use one, I could live with it. It can serve my needs both for my job and for my personal computing.
